Abstract

Conclusion: Significant differences were observed in terms of PLT, PCT, MPV/PLT, and PDW/PLT between overweight, obese, and normal-weight children.

What Is Known: • Obesity is associated with a chronic low-grade systemic inflammation. • Platelets play a crucial role in coagulation, hemostasis, thrombosis, immunomodulatory processes, inflammation, and atherothrombosis.

What Is New: • Significant differences were observed in terms of PLT, PCT, MPV/PLT, and PDW/PLT between overweight, obese, and normal-weight children. • Overweight and obese children with insulin resistance had higher PLT and lower MPV/PLT and PDW/PLT ratios than the children without insülin resistance.
