Abstract

The Neotropical members formerly included in Wesmael, 1837 are transferred to a new genus, Sharkey Presently three Nearctic species of are recognized, i.e., Cameron, 1887, Say,1835, and Walley, 1935, and these are retained in . Berta, 2000 and Enderlein, 1920 are transferred to , i.e., , and , One other species is transferred to , i.e., Spinola, 1851, , Two other Neotropical species, Braet, 2002 and Braet, 2002 were described under the genus but are here transferred to , , and Two new species of are described, and The status of Spinola,1851, Spinola,1851, and Spinola, 1851 is discussed. A neotype is designated for (Say, 1835) and diagnosed with a COI barcode. and are described. The status of both and in the Americas is discussed. A revised key to the genera of Agathidinae of the Americas is presented.
