Abstract

A new fatty acid-spirostan steroid glycoside ester, a new cholestane glycoside and a new stilbene trimer, along with three known steroidal saponins, were isolated from the 70% EtOH extract of the roots and rhizomes of Maxim. The structure of isolated compounds was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Compound were assessed for their cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines (MCF-7, HCT-116, DU-145, SGC-7901, MCF-7/ADR, K562/ADR), and the result showed that compound was highly toxic to six human tumor cell lines.
