Abstract

Dialysis is often seen as a burdensome constraint. The word induces fear, all the more so as it evokes the image of a patient, attached to a machine some twelve hours a week, undergoing a debilitating treatment in a highly medicalised setting. However, it is possible to gradually accept this renal replacement therapy by being supported and trained to use it independently. A patient undergoing dialysis shares his story.
