Hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) has widened the range of laparoscopic surgery. An appropriate port allowing the passage of the hand while maintaining pneumoperitoneum is mandatory for HALS to be performed. Commercially available ports are expensive and may not be universally available. An inexpensive 2-component port using the flange of a stoma appliance and a glove, which could be readily assembled at short notice, is described.
