Abstract
The study concerns the therapeutic effectiveness of olanzapine in the treatment of the first episode of schizophrenia in children and young adults from the 12-19 year old age group. The positive symptoms were the first ones to cease. A constant rise in effectiveness was noted with time duration of application, especially in the case of negative symptoms. The treatment with olanzapine enabled most of the youngsters to continue school.
